So I think I have everything going alright these days. College is so fun, and I enjoy it so much. I also work, and I just transferred stores so I can work closer to home. I was always late to the other store since I started school. But now my new manager worked me 34 hours next week and I'm kinda freaking out. I asked her to work me only 20 and she said she would. Luckily I have someone who might be able to work one of my nights off and two of the nights I'm leaving early. I think with that I'll still work 21 hours but at least I got it down. But still I've been keeping up with my classes. I just had two exams last week and I have one tomorrow. After I get off work today at two I am going home to STUDY. I did some last night but I need to more. So hopefully I do well. and I hope I get through next week a little less stressed than I think it will be.

I started reading the Little Brother book. I thought I would really hate this book seeing as I usually don't like what teachers assign us to read. I think that the view of a younger person helps reach us because if it was not then we might not relate, and his opinions might be completely different. Like his father he might be more for the protection of everyone rather than privacy. If it had been from the father's view his experiences would those of worry for his son and the country. So pretty much I like this story and am excited to read more.

So yesterday I had two exams. I was more nervous about the Sociology one so I studied more for it but now I think I did worse on the Math one. We're allowed to use a sheet of notes but I got so confused on what formulas to do on each different problem. I hope I at least didn't fail. I'm excited that at least half the semester is over. It has flown by so fast Christmas is almost here (my favorite time of year). I have a psychology exam coming up next week and I tend to do pretty well on them. I love that class. The teacher is fun and interesting, he gives you exactly what you need to know for the test, and gives several extra credit opportunities. His name is Bandermann in case you haven't take psychology yet. I highly recommend him. Well I hope this semester ends well. One down, seven more to go!

Fall Break

So fall break was pretty much the same as always. I live here in Knoxville anyway so I just stayed here with family and friends. I got most the break off though, only worked Thursday so I was excited about that. I'm not really sure what to post this blog about, nothing out of the ordinary has happened lately.

This weekend

So this weekend was crazy. Went out Friday and had to get up super early for a work related class. I had to go learn about the responsibility of selling alcohol. Great fun, but now I don't have to call someone else over to get the beer everytime someone buys it. I hate the wait. Later, after the class my boyfriend came over and took me out to eat. It was great. We went to my house and he went home after that. Sunday was hectic. I had a nice long sleep though. I went with my dad to look at houses closer to my mom's house and my job. I hate wasting gas driving all the way to my dads. It's obnoxious and I bugged him enough that we're getting one closer to everything.. except school. See I live at home, a major pain. It's a lot of gas and running from one side of town to the next. I think within the next few weeks my life will get a little less stressful. Then last night I worked seven to midnight. I have that shift again tonight. It's late, but at least after school I have time to get stuff done before I have to go into work. I know my life isn't that exciting but I had to write this post about something. I'm ready for fall break!!!

So I got my rough draft finished and submitted. I know the grammar on it need work, but I didn't take the time to really look over it. I felt that this paper was a little more difficult to write about. I wasn't sure what direction to go but I finally chose a topic. I chose to write about tabloid magazines and thier purpose. I felt that they are a big way that information gets leeked out to the public. They portray some of the worst moments in celeb history. I felt that this was a fairly simple topic to write on.

School Days

So far college is going good. I took my second psych exam and passed! If he ended the class today I'd have an A!! And so far I haven't been all that stressed. I have a chorus concert coming up on the 13th. Only three more rehearsals til then. I think we'll do fine. I do miss my old choir though. I feel that it was harder and we did more stuff in it. My teacher was a crazy lady who demanded a ton of time, but she was good. She made us some of the best. My sister is still in that choir and already has done two different performances. I do love this new choir though. It's new people and they're great. English is going better than it ever has. Maybe it's because I actually care about what I do now. I don't want a C or D, I want to do better than that. I mean I was in AP English both my Junior and Senior year, but didn't really try. I've noticed I'm more motivated. Maybe I've realized I'm screwed now if I don't try. I don't want to work at Food City for the rest of my life!

Contextual Analysis Paper

So I have finished the contextual analysis paper. I wrote mine on a magazine cover. I figured it worked because the stories on the cover are culturally relevant. It is a trashy tabloid magazine, but today many people are interested in what they have to say. I hope that it's what he's looking for. The writing center helped me know what was relevant for this paper, I found that I rambled about things unimportant in the paper. They really helped.

What we're focusing on now in English is our contextual analysis paper. It's more in depth than than the last. This one focuses more on the specific content of the visual aid that I pick. Tuesday's class was real laid back and easy. We watched movie trailers, trying to focus on the content in them that make them work. I think it really helped me know what I'm looking for to write my paper on.

Next Paper

I'm not really sure what I'm doing for my next paper yet. I will probably go home after English and look up different commercials, images, etc. I want to find something I can expand on. On the first paper I chose one cartoon, but decided to change it. The second one I think gave me a better argument to explain, and used strong rhetorical appeals. I hope this second paper turns out just as good.
