Thanksgiving Weekend

So Thanksgiving is a time of family, and a time of thanks. That's why my weekend was spent seeing family and giving thanks for all the great things in my life. I first had dinner with the boyfriend's family and then my dad's side. I went home and slept for maybe two hours and got up for the big day, BLACK FRIDAY. I've never been shopping that day before and my boyfriend's mom goes every year, so I went with them. We got to target for some tvs. I was getting one for my brother, his part birthday and Christmas present. I got one, and was so excited, I was like the second person back to the televisions. I loved it and got some really good deals. I have almost everything bought now. Just a few more things left. I'll have plenty of time to get those few things. So that's what the Thanksgiving weekend consisted of. Some relax and take time to see their relatives, others start the tradition of black friday. I hope that everyone's was great.

Group Project

So for the group project I am writing a paper on male body image. I think it's interesting view seeing that women body image has been looked at several times. I think it's going to pose new ideas and be pretty interesting to write about. I hope the paper is long enough. The project's "broad overview" is "The affect of media universally." I think that I will be able to relate the paper to my group's broad topic.

Behind

I realize I am now behind on posts, I hate missing things and getting behind. I try to stay on top of things. I missed class last Thursday and wish I hadn't. I hear we have some kind of group project thing/presentation. It sounded slightly confusing. I heard a few other people weren't there so hopefully I won't be the only one behind.

Registering

I have started to register for next semester classes at UT now. Ironically when I picked my 102 English class I have the same instructor. I am not sure whether I should just keep him or not. I already know how his class is, and like how he sets it up. Also I have sort of switched interests in what I want to do. I have already met with an adviser for next semester, but am waiting here in line because i want to make sure I get what I need for both interests. I'm undecided but have two major choices. Either Dental Hygiene or teaching. I haven't decided which to enter into yet. I guess I will see what next semester brings.

Little Brother

So I might have already blogged about this but I'm going to again. I loved the book. I thought that it was very interesting. Marcus was a very brave character. In class we talked about various themes throughout the story. Justice verses injustice was in the book. People were constantly trying to figure out what should be just and what was not. People had to give up privacy which some agreed with and others strongly opposed (even if they didn't have important hidden info). I thought that freedom was looked at too. What is freedom? People had to find a balance between freedom and slavery (in a way). They were like slaves to America, giving away their privacy and giving up their freedom. I'm glad there was someone brave enough or strongly willed to take back their freedom. It was a losing battle though. There is so much secrecy kept with the government that it's hard to fight against them without being taken out. Marcus Finally went public, and my teacher asked "Why did he do it right then?" and I hadn't exactly talked about it but I think he broke down when he found that his best friend was sill alive. He was willing to give up everything to help let people know, and to get Daryl out of that place. I think that before he felt like he had all the time in the world and he dragged his feet. Then he felt a sense of urgency to do something when Daryl was believed to be alive. Marcus new he needed to do something.

Argument Paper

I think I will discuss diets and body image in the US for this next paper. I don't think that it will be difficult to write about. It is a topic that is widely talked about and researched. Articles, examples, and resources should be pretty easy to find. I'm not sure exactly where I'm supposed to go with this paper but I think it'll work out in the end.
